How will the CUET (UG) 2022 entrance exam become a great social equalizer?
The UGC has now made it mandatory for all the central universities to admit students to their undergraduate programs exclusively on the merit of the score of a single common entrance test, CUET, to be conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
The “One Nation One Examination” idea is being purported to be proposed by the National Education Policy 2020. Despite arguing for the requirement that the entrance examination follows a common principle, NEP 2020 emphasizes the need to do so “with due consideration of diversity and university autonomy”.
CUET is the Central Universities Entrance Test which is going to be conducted every year by National Testing Agency (NTA). It is a computerized entrance examination for admission to 45 central universities of India, and some other universities and institutions too, including Jamia Milia, TISS, etc. Students aiming to study undergraduate programs in central universities have to appear in the CUET exam which is mandatory.
Reasons Why CUET Proposed?
For many years, Students and we all are witnessing the trend of skyrocketing cut-offs at several central universities, including Delhi University for admissions to undergraduate courses. According to the experts, this is because CBSE, CISCE, and the different state boards in India all have different evaluation patterns, which makes it unfair for students applying to central universities with a wide diversity in evaluation patterns.
Secondly, The Common University Entrance Test CUET (UG) – 2022 will provide a common platform and equal opportunities to candidates across the country, especially those from North-East and from rural and other remote areas, and help establish better connections with the Universities.
Not only provide many a common platform and equal opportunities to students. But also, have other reasons why CUET UG was introduced, it also eliminates subjectivity, gives clarity to Rank, End to cut-off Wrestling, and Equal Opportunity for Each University.
In the past, students used to be under stress to secure more than 95% marks in Class XII Board Examination so as to get admission to the University of their choice. but now because of CUET the stress on them for securing very high marks in the one and only Board Examination stands reduced. This test symbolizes the conceptual understanding and the ability to apply knowledge, and a single exam to take admission to your dream University.
